Privacy & Policy

PRIVACY & POLICY

As a client you have certain rights that all therapists must respect and abide by throughout your psychotherapy process. A list of such Client Rights is posted at the bottom of this page, as well as in the physical office of A Different View Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC, in Centereach, NY, and you will also be provided with a copy personally should you become a client.

One of your rights as a client receiving mental health services is the right to a Good Faith Estimate, which is a new state law that entitles you to receive an estimate of the costs for services rendered/received. A copy of this law is posted on the bottom of this page and in the physical office of A Different View Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC in Centereach, NY. This will be discussed in more detail during your initial phone consultation and a copy of your specific estimate will be provided to you prior to the start of your therapy process should you become a client.

Confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of the client-psychotherapist relationship. For the therapy process to be successful, it requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but the therapist's office. Every therapist should provide a written copy of their confidential disclosure agreement, and you can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. This is called Informed Consent. Sometimes, however, you may want your therapist to share information or give an update to someone on your healthcare team (Physician, Attorney, Case Manager, etc.) or even someone with whom you have a personal relationship (partner, friend, spouse, etc.), but by law your therapist cannot release this information without obtaining your written permission, usually done through a consent to release PHI (Personal Health Information) form. These forms will be discussed during your Intake process should you become a client and you will be provided with copies for your own records.

Therapists are required to maintain privacy and confidentiality for all clients. However, there are some limitations to confidentiality as governed by state law and professional ethics. These limitations are usually explained in detail in a therapist’s Notice of Privacy Practices form, which all clients will receive a copy of and discuss during Intake. A copy is posted at the bottom of this page for your reference.

As a therapist I am committed to providing my clients with exceptional care. As I will always try to understand life situations that could lead up to cancellations, I hope you can also understand the value of my time as I value your time when it comes to scheduling/cancelling sessions. A copy of my Cancellation/No Show Policy is posted at the bottom of this page for your reference. This will be discussed and all clients will receive a copy during the Intake process.

In addition, as a therapist who values the rights of my clients, I also have office policies that I hope all of my clients will respect reciprocally. All policies, consents, agreements and additional information will be provided to you personally during your Intake process should you become a client.

In regards to and with respect to this website, as well as my other social media pages for A Different View Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC, the following is my Social Media PolicyIn order to maintain and respect your confidentiality & privacy, as well as my respective privacy I ask that you do not disclose or discuss in any way the client/therapist relationship we have or the issues we discuss in sessions on any social media platforms or networking sites. My hope is that you will bring any & all concerns/issues about our work together to your therapy sessions to discuss them directly & privately. Please do not contact me about private issues or sessions through any means other than contacting me via phone or other means we agree upon so as not to disclose your privacy through other means that may not be protected, such as networking or social media sites. Also for protection of privacy please do not send friend requests via any social media platform.

As a therapist, I value all of my client’s rights, privacy and confidentiality, not just because it is the law within the client-therapist relationship, but because I feel everyone is entitled to respect of their personal rights and should have full privacy & confidentiality when dealing with issues that are intimate, sensitive and personal to them. It is for this reason that I am not enabling forms to be filled out/sent through this site, but instead I will personally provide you with all of the forms, policies, consents, and information you will need as part of your Intake process should you become a client.

We will take our time during your Intake sessions to discuss all aspects of these forms, consents, and policies to make sure you understand everything clearly before signing and consenting to any aspect of the psychotherapy process. This is one of my ways of showing you that I truly care about you and your personal and private journey through psychotherapy and healing.
