          In Person Sessions




This is the traditional form of therapy done for many years and proven to be very successful at providing a therapeutic environment for all who are seeking counseling and therapy services. These personalized therapy sessions will be held between client(s) and Trish J. Nauss, LCSW-R on-site at the office of A Different View Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC in Centereach, NY. They are held in a private office where you will have the opportunity to sit face to face and have personalized sessions tailored uniquely to you to address all of your issues, struggles, problems, etc., in a warm, compassionate and caring atmosphere.        

Telehealth Sessions

These sessions are a way to receive personalized therapy but from the comfort of your own home. They are held via video-chat platform where I, Trish J. Nauss, LCSW-R, will be located in a private office while you are in your home in a private room. You will still have the opportunity to have personalized sessions tailored to all of your needs and address all of your issues, struggles, problems, etc., in a warm, compassionate and caring atmosphere. 

Many people feel this is a good choice for therapy due to schedules, traveling, location, or safety concerns especially in today’s world. The virtual environment has proven to be very successful in the therapeutic process for those seeking or preferring it to attending On-Site/In-Person sessions. Sessions are still in face-to-face format and in a safe, non-judgmental environment, all from the comforts of your home, using your computer, tablet, or phone. All aspects of In-Person Therapy, including confidentiality are the same for Telehealth sessions. I use a secure HIPAA compliant video-chat platform, however, you should always keep in mind the possible risks associated with use of technology.

Individual Sessions

Individual therapy sessions are all about you. As I mentioned earlier, I will tailor your therapy to your individual and unique needs using methods, approaches & strategies to address the issues you are seeking help with. You and I will spend our sessions One-On-One talking about and working on all of the issues, problems, struggles, etc., you are dealing with. You may include other persons in your sessions along the way, if needed or desired and beneficial to your treatment process.

Couples Sessions:

-Individual Couples Therapy

There may be times when one person in a relationship feels the need to pursue therapy for issues that may exist within the relationship, while the other is not ready for therapy. Sometimes one person is just not ready to reveal to their partner that they want or need therapy for their issues within the relationship. Maybe one person isn’t even sure about their own readiness for therapy in general. In situations such as these, it would make more sense for the person who is ready and wanting therapy to begin the process individually on a more personal level and can include their partner at a later time when both are ready and willing to work together in a therapeutic environment. Sometimes even when only one partner learns better communication skills, gains insight into their own emotions and feelings, and learns ways of identifying the issues that exist, a relationship can change, grow or thrive for the better!           

-Therapy With Your Partner

These are the sessions you will participate in together with your partner to identify and work on issues, struggles or problems you are facing as a couple or even as an individual within the relationship dynamic. Whether it be to strengthen, alter, save, change or even end a relationship/partnership/marriage it is important to always remember that engaging in therapy is a courageous step towards making desired changes you seek to make within your relationship!  

Family Sessions:

-Individual Family Therapy

There may be times when one person in a family feels the need to pursue therapy for issues that may exist within the family dynamic or relationships between members, while the others are not ready for therapy. Sometimes one person is just not ready to reveal to their family that they want or need therapy for their issues within the family dynamic or relationship with other members. Maybe one person isn’t even sure about their own readiness for therapy in general. At times one person may not even understand the issues that exist and desires guidance, support and helpful insight before bringing family members into the issue. In situations such as these, it might make more sense for the person who is ready and wanting therapy to begin the process individually on a more personal level and can include their family members at a later time when all are ready and willing to work together in a therapeutic environment. Many times when one member of a family learns better understanding, communication skills and coping skills, as well as gains insight into their own emotions and feelings, and learns ways of identifying the issues that exist, a family can transform in positive ways!          

-Therapy with the Family

These are the sessions you will participate in together with your family members to identify and work on issues, struggles or problems you are facing as a family unit or even as an individual within the family dynamic. Change, growth and healing can only happen when all members have equal opportunity to share their feelings and emotions to help everyone involved gain a deeper understanding of the issues, struggles or problems that exist within a family. It is also a good way of allowing all members to have equal chance to speak, share and be heard. Additionally, family therapy helps to reveal the dynamics and interactions between members and ways in which they can be improved when change is needed for the better.
