          DEPRESSION and MOOD

Do you feel persistent sadness, hopelessness, or emptiness?

Have you been losing interest in things that you once enjoyed?

Do you feel low self-confidence or have issues with your self-esteem?

Are you feeling more irritable or shifts in your moods throughout the day without explanation?

Do you have trouble sleeping, eating or concentrating on things you once could and don’t know why?

Are you finding yourself cancelling plans with family or friends without reason?

Maybe you find it hard to get out of bed at all?

Have you been experiencing physical symptoms including aches and pains, fatigue/loss of energy, stomach issues or headaches without a diagnosis or cause?

If you said yes to any of these you may be suffering from depression and you’re not alone!

Studies have shown that the rate of depression in the U.S has risen to about 40% in recent years.

The good news is, you don’t have to suffer alone or continue to suffer at all!

The most important thing is to gain knowledge about what is causing your depressive symptoms. If your symptoms are severe and hindering your daily functioning, you should consult with your medical doctor to rule out other possible causes for your symptoms or for a medical diagnosis and possible treatment with medication if necessary. Once you have a clearer picture or answer, you should consider psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy is considered to be the most effective form of therapy for major depression and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that is considered the most effective method used to treat depression. Together, psychotherapy and CBT are highly effective in addressing and treating many emotional, behavioral and interpersonal issues we all face in life, including those that can cause us to feel depressed.

As I mentioned on previous pages, I use CBT as the basis for my psychotherapy treatment, as well as other strategies and approaches that may be helpful to you as a unique individual engaging in the therapeutic journey towards wellness. We can work together as a team to gain insight into what is causing your symptoms, how to better understand them, and ultimately help you feel better and find your happiness again so you can live life and thrive!

Before considering psychotherapy, please consider the following…

If you think your depression could be linked to a physical health problem, you should first consult with your medical doctor to get answers that could help alleviate symptoms.

If you feel very depressed, have trouble with alcohol or drug use, or have other mental health concerns such as anxiety along with depression, you should first seek help from a medical doctor or professional as soon as possible and even consider looking into addiction specialists or programs.

Most Importantly: If you or a loved one are in crisis or have suicidal thoughts or behaviors, you should seek emergency medical help immediately by calling 911 or 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7 for immediate assistance through call, text, or chat.
